I truly am thankful for the work, but....
I'm at a job site. Everyone emphasizes that they're glad I'm here, but they can't quite say what I'll be doing as part of the project. As long as they sign off on my timesheet, should I worry that this is ultimately coming out of Federal funds?

I'm hoping this place will say "Screw it," and kick us out for the holiday. I need to get to the store for tomorrow's meal (just my sister and I) and almost certainly it'll be a madhouse.

Oh is it the time of year for you Americans to eat turkey but not pull crackers and not eat plum pudding? You know that time of year that makes me gnash my teeth because a school in Scotland gives thanks and I have to read about it?;)

Thanksgiving is fundamentally a harvest festival as bowdlerized by God-botherers. And my sister doesn't eat meat or poultry, so I'll be cooking fish instead.

Crackers are not a traditional part of the American Christmas, but retailers make a point of offering them, god bless 'em all. I once tried plum pudding, and am not convinced that it is fit for human consumption. (Plum pudding vs. sweet potatoes topped with marshmallows--FITE!)
